I have been a lurker on this board for a least 10 years but had never signed up to contribute because I have little to contribute having no basketball background except as a Jayhawk fan of 40 years standing. I live in Lawrence and have season tickets so maybe I can comment on the flavor or home games occasionally. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dave and the other moderators for setting up this wonderful community of Jayhawks and the basketball experts and statistical geeks who have contributed so much to my understanding of Jayhawk basketball. Finally, I would like to express my belief (and desire) that the Hawks will spank the Pussycats Saturday while OU gets by West Virginia and that the Hawks will then proceed to run the table (to prove they can win 5 big games in a row), bow out early in the Big 12 tournament (to prove to themselves that they can lose if they don't bring their A game) and get some much needed rest before the Big Dance. Rock Chalk !

“With kindest regards to Dr. Forrest C. Allen, the father of basketball coaching, from the father of the game.”
1936 inscription on the portrait of Dr. Naismith, displayed above Phog Allen's office desk at KU.
Now THAT was a stirring introduction.
Welcome aboard, DocHawk! Very happy to have you hear. Please post often--don't be shy.

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark Twain "Innocents Abroad"

Just how long have you been waiting for the right place to use that one, yab?
