"It was a great game. The kids feel really good about themselves right now, and they should.

"In the first half I was really concerned about our turnovers, even moreso than Lou Roe or our ability to box out. And I'm sure that's what everyone else was concerned about. We were just throwing the ball away too many times. We shot a high percentage, but we weren't getting enough shots. Then at halftime, they're shooting 30% or whatever, and we had three more rebounds by the official stats. But the reason we were still one point down was the turnovers. I think we cut those down in the second half. We were really efficient on the offensive end and got a high percentage shot most of the time.

"It's amazing, because as a coach sitting over there, you don't have any idea that we're outrebounding them, because it seemed as though every time they shot it they also got the rebound. If I were a betting man, I would have bet they outrebounded us.

"Jacque and Jerod and Scot, those three guys particularly, were interested in playing well when they came back home. We do recruit this area quite a bit, and our kids from California have been very successful. We hope we can continue doing that and giving them opportunities to come back and tell their freinnds and families that they made a good decision.

"I talked to our team that this is just one game. Our goal at the start of the season wasn't to win the Wooden Classic. Our goal was to be the best team that we can be, and this was one step in that process. You can count that as corny or a cliche or whatever, but that's the bottom line."
