Yeah, I was only looking at the 1s, but MSU will still have to go thru at least one bad boy before they can possibly get to KU, and taht is really all I care about when it comes to them.

If we meet up with them in the NC, all the better. The two best teams in the land get to see how much things have changed since that early season game in Chi-town.

I have seen on here and heard from many Big 10 fans that Sparty got screwed. If thats true I wish the committee would "screw" KU every year. Sometimes the 1, 1 isnt all that great of a road. I think no matter what Izzo says when he looks at their path he is already licking his chops and preparing his palate for southern Texas shrimp.

KU again gets the winner of a good 8-9 game as long as we dont make history. UCONN is making its usual March run and if memory serves the last time we played the Buffs things did not go so well. Ive always thought the 2 line might be better than a 1. History tells us its not but if you are interested in winning more than one game the 2 line looks a little better to me. Regardless, if we can get past the first weekend it looks to me like the year of the M teams. Maryland....I am not very excited to play Turg's guys, real big men...and then Miami. Truthfully, have not seen one second of the Canes. But the committee thinks they are pretty good. We shall see.

The more I think about the brackets, the more I am convinced that the Committee, having decided that MSU wouldn't surpass UVA or Oregon for a 1 seed, then summarily bent over backwards to reward the Spartans with a) the most favorable region; and b) putting them in Chicago, which is a huge Sparty bastion.

In the process, KU got hosed a bit. We drew a much tougher region (7 AP Top 25 teams, 10 KenPom Top 25 teams), AND the Committee went against all bracketologist projections by denying us Chicago and putting us in Louisville.

KU has a huge alum base in Chicago, and it is only 1-2 more miles farther from Lawrence than Louisville. There are many direct flights out of KCI to Chicago, but not so to Louisville. And who, among the traveling set, would rather hang out in Louisville than Chicago? Buehler? Anyone?

Here's how you KNOW that the Committee bent over backwards for Michigan State: not only was the overall top seed (KU) denied its more natural Midwest region base (and Chicago), but they torched the #1 seed in the South (Virginia), by forcing their fans to notionally travel farther (to Chicago, instead of Louisville) AND by forcing the Cavaliers to have to play Michigan State in what would amount to a hostile road game (in front of all the Sparty fans in Chicago). So, instead of doing the natural thing--rewarding the two 1 seeds (KU/UVA) by placing them in their more natural regions (Midwest and South, respectively), the Committee flipped the script and rewarded the Spartans. Out of guilt because they didn't get a 1 seed? That's all I can think of, because it doesn't make much sense.

Anyway, it's water under the bridge. But I just wanted to get out that final thought on the bracket (in terms of KU, MSU, and UVA) and how things got allotted. In the final analysis, KU has a more loaded region in the South, but they avoided MSU in the Elite Eight game.

Lace 'em up and get it done, regardless of the brackets.
