Nope, he still counts, same as a redshirt.

Thanks. Bummer.

ESPN

His case:
Already 19
Arguing that he graduated in 2015, his last year was post-grad prep.

Seems we can take him off the board.

I saw that earlier while watching the Royals opener. Bummer...

Some observers feel his camp is doing this because they weren't going to get cleared by the NCAA.

Was reading much the same, Konza. I think he'll be okayed by the NBA, no reason for them not to do so. And if he doesn't do well, maybe the owners and the players will get together on the new CBA and agree to up the age to 20.

Yeah, sure...

Bedore : Diallo late first rounder, Selden and Ellis 2nd.

Interesting comment by ESPN writer:
“Diallo didn’t really do much at Kansas this year, but that won’t stop a team like the (Toronto) Raptors from grabbing him,” Ford writes at the web address es.pn/1qof9N9 “He is tough and athletic, and he might have the best motor in the draft. He’s very, very raw. But had he stayed in school another year, he probably would have been a lottery pick. That makes him good value here.” ... “If he stays in the draft, he’s likely in the No. 20 to No. 35 range. However, he could dramatically improve his stock with another season or two at Kansas,” Ford writes.

Yep, and if he's such a good value at 26, how much better value would he be at 31 or higher? And how much better might it be for him to come back?

I know the R1s all get guaranteed contracts, and the R2s don't, but what is the going difference between lottery pick and #26 in R1?

And if he doesn't get drafted in R1, all bets are off. He could end up in the D League to "develop".

Pay attention all you shortsighted folks in Diallo's camp.

Just grousing here. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

More of a wing than a ball handler?
Word is he is also visiting Florida, Georgetown, and Gonzaga so far.
History of injuries (ACL, broken foot) don't know how much, if any, that affected his 3P% last season.

WIth 4 openings, an immediate impact for next year and help balance out the classes (not 4 Freshmen this time around?)

I don't know, just reporting what I'm reading out there.

The son of Rick and brother of Scooter (holy smoke, 30 years apart?!? Dang, Rick's still firin' hot!) has KU on his list (KU, Cal, Florida, Louisville, Miami, Ole Miss and Northwestern). Per Goodman and Borzello , he was one of the best scorers in the country for the first half of the season before missing the final two-plus months with a shoulder injury.

See the KUSports.com story on Udoka making the Nike Summit roster.

Does he choose his dad's school (Miami), his brother's school (KU) or somewhere else?

The article also has info on regular transfers Korey Holden and Jimmy Whitt.

Plus a notice that Rivals #20 Jarrett Allen (6-9 F) has KU on his final list along with Texas, Houston, Kentucky, Notre Dame and North Carolina. From what I've been reading most "experts" believe the Texas native will choose tu.

Because HE asked, and because I have it bookmarked I will provide a couple data points. The 30th pick gets a 2 year deal for in round $ a bit under 1 million per year. In the end of the lottery slot, 14 the amount is about 1.7 million. ( b/t/w #1 is almost 5 million per year.) For all first round picks the CBA provides for a team option for year three at a percentage increase.

In other words assuming that the 30th spot is guaranteed in 2016 and next year the 16th spot is guaranteed, it wouldin rough estimation be (wait) PDV 0 ( year 1) + 1.6million( year 2) + 1.6million ( year 3) <> or go 1 miilion (year 1) + 1 million( year 2) + 1.1 million (year 3.)

Of course the "real money" comes in the second contract and beyond. ( Let me mention the cautionary tale of Josh Selby last seen, per Chrome, playing in Izmir, Turkey.)

Monday or Wednesday according to various sources. Tait article

KU's competition is AZ and home state Michigan State.

Most analysts think its down to Izzo and Self, with Self having the better op for playing time with Wayne leaving. AZ out with adding Kobi Simmons to an already guard stacked roster.

Reports are that while Josh was split, with a slight lean to Izzo, Mom is sold on Self and KU, and Josh wants the decision to be unanimous among him and his advisors. Josh has said that the decision has been made, it's just been a matter of getting a date where all his important family members could be there.

Wildeboor thinks Josh Jackson is coming to KU, and is stunned about Maker going NBA solely because Maker's guardian had insisted that Maker would be playing in college for a year.

Shay states that he is hearing of lots of action on KU's part regarding transfers this year as well, both graduate and regular transfers.
Feels that with all the experience being lost this year that adding an experienced hand or two to go with a Josh Jackson and another HS recruit.

Podcast is just under 28 minutes long. If you have not listened yet, it's worth your time if you are at all interested in KU recruiting for 2016-17.

Nike Hoops Summit this weekend, then back to Michigan to announce from his house so his family can all easily be there for the event.

How are people overreacting to the news that he is announcing from his home?

All speculation of course, but FY enjoyment:

- Does waiting to announce from the safety of home as opposed to a public venue mean its MSU?
(Not necessarily. It could just mean, as he has stated repeatedly, that he wants all his family to be able to attend.)

- Does committing from the safety of his home as opposed to somewhere more public mean it's not MSU?
(Interesting idea, but only he and his people know, and they've had great OPSEC)

- KU is an Adidas school, MSU is Nike, is this why he's waiting until the Nike Hoops Summit is over to announce?
(Do such things even enter the minds of teenagers? Very astute and considerate of him if so.)

- Someone noted that Darrell Arthur announced from his grandma's place in TX and still picked KU

247Sports Crystal Ball Projections heavily favor KU
Among the 22 experts predicting, the results today are
3 for AZ
4 for MSU
15 for KU

Whatever he has decided (and he has stated that he, along with his family, have decided, it's just a matter of announcing), the rest of us will find out on Monday. Here's hoping Mama Apples won this one and he's coming to Mount Oread!

Jackson will inform his loved ones, then tweet his decision.

No TV, no media, no announcement time, just Monday.

1. Illinois Mr. Basketball Charlie Moore decommits from Memphis

2. Chicago Tribune story from Friday April 8.

The departure of Josh Pastner from Memphis to take the Georgia Tech job has cost the Tigers one of their top recruits. Moore is a 4 star PG listed at #47 in Rivals Top 150 for 2016.

Listed at 5-11/160, talk on the web is he is smaller than that. Many comparers say he is similar to Yogi Ferrell at Indiana.

Note that he says he wants the ball in his hands from Day 1, as it was going to be at Memphis.

Given that stated desire, it is perhaps understandable (given the presence of Frank and Devonté) that there is also no real chatter -- other than notices like this -- about him being interested in KU, and even more importantly for our interests, KU being interested in him.

Still, if he is truly wide open, who knows?
When a Top 50 player who could be an asset is available this late in the recruiting game, it merits some notice..

No one can contact him until he is released from his LOI, which is a mere formality since he reports that his gave him an automatic out if Pastner left. (Makes me wonder if he signed an LOI or a grant? I did not think that LOIs could contain such wording. If they can, that is a huge boon to recruits.)

Sometime today (as yet unknown), after informing all of his loved ones, Jackson will tweet his decision from his Michigan home.

The preponderance of "expert" opinion is that he has chosen KU over Michigan St and AZ.

We'll soon find out.

ESPN
Former Rivals 5 star PG Derryck Thornton is transferring from Duke. Started 20 games for K last year, but saw his minutes vary in conference play. Reclassified from 2016 to 2015 to help Duke land Ingram (story is Ingram wanted to play with a solid PG and Duke didn't have one lined up), and this year Duke has recruited over him with one of the top classes in the country, which includes 5 star PG Frank Jackson, the recent co-MVP with Josh Jackson (no relation) in the McD AA game.

Thornton will have to sit out 2016-17, then have 3 years of eligibility left.
IOW, a year to learn the system, then step in after Frank has graduated.

I don't know if there is some reason (helicopter family?) KU did not go after him (according to his Rivals record, there was no interest either way?), but definitely worth a relook, wouldn't you think?
