that despite the misogyny, sexual misconduct, continuous lying, extreme arrogance, insulting of our allies, deriding of a war hero, creation of chaos in the White House, demanding fealty from his staff, and the demeaning and hatred of the press, WHY are there still supporters of the occupier of the Oval Office?
I am baffled.
I am baffled.

I agree, Murph. It really is mind-boggling. What amazes me even more is that his strongest support comes from evangelical Christians. Dolt 45 is the most un-Christian person to ever occupy the White House. His behavior and ethics are the antithesis of those professed by Christians, yet they continue to blindly support him. I can't figure out if these people are really this hypocritical or if they are just plain stupid.

My daughter told me some of her Facebook friends described this baffling situation as an abusive relationship, and others likened it to being in a cult. So, we can add those two explanations to "really hypocritical" and just plain stupid."
Good post, Doc. I hadn't realized so many of his supporters are evangelical Christians. (There has to be a punch line in there somewhere....)

I'm going to walk back my "plain stupid" comment. I will replace it with "willfully ignorant." When Christians are indoctrinated, they are repeatedly instructed to ignore anything, including documented facts, that does not align with religious doctrine; free thinking is strictly discouraged. For example, it is a well established fact that the earth was formed 4+ billion years ago. Yet, many Christians steadfastly maintain that the earth is only 5,000 years old. This same kind of thinking (or lack thereof) may explain why Christians can totally ignore facts about Dolt 45.
