• Today begins an "evaluation" period (on campus recruiting allowed, plus staff can be off-campus evaluating -- e.g., attending games to watch recruits -- but no off-campus in-person recruiting contacts allowed). The next full "recruiting" period, where both on & off campus in-person contacts are allowed, begins SEP 4.

With the rise of social injustice in the United States, in 2019, under the direction of Director of Basketball Operations Fred Quartlebaum, Kansas men’s basketball instituted initiatives to educate and act toward these issues and enhance the overall culture of the KU program. Juneteenth has played a role in educating the KU men’s basketball team.

Farewell, Donald Sutherland (1935-2024)
He died yesterday (age 88).
One of my all-time favorite actors, whether as Sergeant Oddball in Kelly's Heroes, Captain Benjamin Franklin (Hawkeye) Pierce, MD in Robert Altman's classic movie M*A*S*H, the German agent in The Eagle Has Landed, the grief stricken father Calvin Jarrett in Ordinary People, or Matthew Benell in the excellent remake of the sci-fi classic Invasion of the Body Snatchers or any of the 199 acting credits list on IMDB.com (yes, even that nasty turn as The Big Bad in The Hunger Games). IMDB.com has a nice remembrance at the link.
