How many days until LATE NIGHT in The PHOG!
?
and other dates of interest...*Estimate based on first Friday in October. Official announcement expected in July 2024.
Overslept this morning after a very nice Fathers' Day with the family. Hope everyone had a good time with family & friends!
KU ATHLETICS
✦ KU MEN'S HOOPS -
The only thing of note that caught my eye for this morning is new Jayhawk Flory Bidunga having his very first basketball camp back home in Indiana. Talk about getting a fast break from the collegiate career tip-off!

I like to remember that Flory will not be the first KANSAS center of note to hail from the Hoosier state. Wouldn't it be great if he can add to that earlier KANSAS history with another NC powered by an Indiana big man?
✦ KUFB -
The eight days from June 9 through June 16 has to be one of the best periods in KUFB recruiting history.
Of course, only the test of time will confirm that assessment, but oooh, I like the prospects!
Two excellent high school recruits that KU really wanted (Olathe South's Juju Marks and Joeseph Skipworth from Milton. FL) signed on for 2025, then transfer OU center Bryce Foster confirmed he would be playing for KANSAS this fall (and hopefully in 2025 as well), and then in ONE glorious Sunday FIVE defensive players committed to playing for Leipold & Company in 2025.
That's quite a day for our program... and Leipold & Co are still looking to add a few more.
And ain't it great getting quality in-state players to KANSAS?
Yeah, it is!
Especially (in the Word of Kirby) “One of the best 8-man players in Kansas history” in Brandon Schmelzle.
✦ KU Baseball -

• I also wanted to reemphasize (ICYMI) the historic nature of freshman pitcher Dominic Voegele being the first baseball player in school history to be named to the Freshman All-American team by multiple entities. There have been KU freshman selected by one service in the past [Kodey Shojinaga (2023), James Cosentino (2017), Devin Foyle (2016), Stephen Villines (2014), Wally Marciel (2007), John Nelson (1998 honorable mention), Clint Wyrick (1998 honorable mention) and Jamie Splittorf (1993 - remember him, Royals fans?) are the other Jayhawks that have received freshman All-American honors], but he's the only one to make more than one list.
As you might imagine, he has also been named Big 12 Freshman of the Year, as well as an All-Big 12 Second Team selection and a Big 12 All-Freshman Team honoree (the latter two which I do NOT understand as IMO he should have been on the Big 12 Freshman First Team if he was the freshman of the year... maybe the reporter made an error?). Voegele has been invited to training camp for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team.
ELSEWHERE -
And then there is this tidbit. Should be interesting to follow for the potential repercussions regarding records. I personally don't think it will go anywhere, other than the NCAA possibly settling by agreeing to waive the minimum winning % requirement in his case.
ESPN.com: Les Miles suing LSU; vacated wins drop him below HOF threshold
The Lawrence forecast calls for a sunny, windy, hot and humid day (and yet again it's dark and overcast as I post this), followed by a partly cloudy, breezy and humid night. Chance of precipitation goes from 2% during the day to 4% overnight.
High of 93F (33.9 C) and an overnight low of 76F (24.4 C).
That is all for now.
Hope you have a GREAT day!
