How many days until LATE NIGHT in The PHOG!
?
and other dates of interest...*Estimate based on first Friday in October. Official announcement expected in July 2024.
KU MEN'S HOOPS -
• From Shay Wildeboor at JayhawkSlant, the AY2024-25 roster (so far):
Hunter Dickinson
Dajuan Harris, Jr.
Justin Cross (Walk-on)
Chris Carter (Walk-on; not sure he's returning or not)
Jamari McDowell
Wilder Evers (Walk-on)
Elmarko Jackson
Patrick Cassidy (Walk-on)
Dillon Wilhite (Walk-on)
KJ Adams, Jr.
Zach Clemence
AJ Storr
Zeke Mayo
Rylan Griffen
Noah Shelby (Walk-on)
Flory Bidunga
Rakease Passmore
Will Thengvall (Walk-on)
Johnny Furphy and Jaxson Robinson (BYU transfer) have until tomorrow (May 29th) to remove themselves from the NBA draft.
Shay expects Furphy to remain in the draft. (I'll be shocked to see him return. Ecstatic, but shocked.)
The fact that Robinson hasn't removed his name yet leads Shay to believe Robinson is seriously considering remaining in the draft.
Shay's sources say Kansas is a serious option should Robinson return to college.
"Just something to watch the next 24 hours."
OTHER KU ATHLETICS NEWS -
• KUFB - 247Sports.com - Swain: KU football's official visit list grows as the busy June recruiting period nears (paywall)
"...the KU staff looks to build out its 2025 recruiting class this June. Over the last few weeks, the KU coaches have been on the road to evaluate players and set up visits. The visit list has grown exponentially and there are a few more visits that are going to be added."
"(S)ome KU coaches will be on the road to attend mega camps this upcoming weekend. Between May 30 and June 2 KU will have coaches at both mega camps in the Dallas area, the Lindenwood mega camp, the Kennesaw State camp and in Detroit for a camp. KU will also attend the USF camp down in Florida on June 6."
These camps give the coaches a chance to evaluate large groups of players in person. Occasionally KU will set up an official visit or two with a player from one of the camps, but typically they are important for getting ahead on some players in the 2026 class and beyond.
KU will host its own camps on June 5, 12 and 18.

• As already mentioned here on the RCB, this weekend both the Pac-12 and basketball great Bill Walton passed into history.
"Two days after the Pac-12 took its final competitive breath, the conference lost its soul. Bill Walton passed away Monday after 71 years of a life like no other, ever. The cause: cancer."
Walton's death came two days after the final athletic competition under the Pac-12 banner, Arizona’s victory over USC in the baseball tournament. The Pac-12 as we know it officially ceases to exist on 2 August as the departing schools join their new leagues. The Pac-12 will remain an official conference for at least two years as the Washington State and Oregon State football teams compete during a grace period provided by the NCAA.
After that...?[/i]

Welcome to the unofficial start of summer. Around the world the generally accepted* official first day of summer, also known as the summer solstice, arrives Thursday, June 20 when the solstice occurs at precisely 4:51 p.m. EST, marking the moment the Northern Hemisphere enjoys the most daylight of the year. While in the US the Memorial Day weekend is considered the unofficial start of summer, in many cultures the summer solstice is considered the start. Note that for meteorological purposes summer starts on June 1.
As I post this the weather today in Lawrence is projected to be partly sunny with a high of 84F (28.9 C) and a low of 55F (12.8 C). The Accuweather posted chance of precipitation is 0%, with no precipitation projected until Thursday..
That is all for now.
Hope you have a GREAT day!
