"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark Twain "Innocents Abroad"
How many days until LATE NIGHT in The PHOG!?
and other dates of interest...*Estimate based on first Friday in October. Official announcement expected in July 2024.
KU MEN'S HOOPS -
The first recruiting live period has come and gone. HCs and staffs get something of a rest until the dead period ends on Sunday June 2.
As you can imagine, KU has been working the games.
247Sports - Swain: Recapping a busy first evaluation period for the Kansas basketball staff (a VIP article)
Bill Self
• Nike EYBL in Indianapolis (Darius Acuff, Jr, the #1 PG in the 2025 class; Squid the main competition)
• Early Saturday he was in Ohio for the UAA (5* PF Bryson Tiller, had an official visit last season)
• Late on Saturday, Texas for Adidas 3SSB (5* CG Darryn Peterson). Per Michael Swain of 247Sports.com, afterwards Peterson said
"They want me to play the point guard position. I am moving to the point guard position instead of playing the two. At the point guard spot, I am pretty big so there is a mismatch there. I am looking at whatever school lets me play point guard and will allow me to get better." Swain thinks Acuff has the edge in terms of priority.
Other KU staff -
Norm Roberts
• Nike EYBL watching 5* 2025 wing Jalen Haralson (again), 4* wing Tounde Yessoufou, 5* 2026 GJason Crowe Jr. and 5* 2026 Tajh Ariza. All players hold offers from KU.
Jeremy Case
• Wichita for the NXTPRO Hoops circuit (4* C Chris Cenac).
OTHER KU ATHLETICS NEWS -
KUAthletics.com: Kansas Beats Kansas State 2-1 in Opening Game of Big 12 Championship
Yeah, baby!
Up next: Kansas will play the winner of Wednesday’s game between No. 1-seeded Oklahoma and No. 9-seeded TCU on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. CT.

On the home front, the dog population.is back to its normal two, and man, does the home have a different feel without them.
Good boys both, now back with their Ma & Pa who were in Des Moines over the weekend attending their youngest son's college graduation from Drake University with, I might add, *multiple* high honors in Psychology and Music (he's a superb cellist, which is what helped pay the bills at Drake!). We be awfully proud of the lad! A fun weekend in Des Moines -- and a lot of work! Moving him out of his expired lease apartment and back home for the summer. Next up -- graduate $chool in pursuit of a PhD in Psychology! We wait for where with bated breath!
It's a nice, partly cloudy day in Lawrence, chance of rain this morning, NO t-storms on the radar, high 77F (25C for all y'all metric folk).
That is all for now.
Hope you have a GREAT day!
