How many days until LATE NIGHT in The PHOG!?
and other dates of interest...*Estimate based on first Friday in October. Official announcement expected in July 2024.
KU Men's hoops -
Mike Vernon reports mutual interest between KU and BYU transfer Jaxson Robinson.
Robinson would be a big-time get for any program.
Currently at the NBA combine this week, as is Bill Self.
Former BYU coach Mark Pope is recruiting him to Kentucky as well.
Robinson is a 6’7” wing, averaged 14 points per game, known as a perimeter shooter, could help KU stretch the floor.
May 29, folks...
END KU Men's hoops
Talking the future of college sports and realignment -
NCAA could face $20B in damages, bankruptcy if proposed settlement offer isn't agreed upon
The potential settlement is believed to be in its final stages of adoption and consists of back pay, a new compensation model and an overhaul of the NCAA scholarship system.

Here is a rough timeline for any future real realignment actions.
2030 - B1G's current contract ends
2031 - B12's current contract ends
2032 - March Madness current contract expires
2034 - SEC's current contract ends
2036 - ACC's current contract ends
Unless this potential bankruptcy sets off a chain of events for the B1G, SEC, ACC, & B12 to perform an early termination of their contracts with ESPN, ABC, FOX, NBC, and other channels, it's gonna be at least 5+ years until anything happens. The thing to keep an eye on is how long the B1G makes their next contract. If it is 5-6 years, they are essentially lining themselves for thr downfall of the ACC.

Actually we now know the ACC/ESPN contract ends in 2027. ESPN has the option to extend it to 2036, and must decide by 02.2025. They have zero obligation to extend it.
And jolebo's reply to that -
I finally got around to looking up this information. I clearly missed this bit of news.
While there is no obligation, I also wonder how much ESPN will influence the ACC schools to go to the SEC. ESPN is 100% SEC/ACC and 0% with the B1G. The B1G has set a precedent of having the newcomers take an initial cut with payments while the SEC is 100% from the start.
And as much as it is not mentioned, I do wonder how much travel expenses are being considered. The SEC landscape is much more appealing for all of the ACC schools.
I get it that the B1G academic benefits are appealing for schools like UNC & UVA but how much influence does that have with future decisions?
Just spitballing what's crossing my mind right now but yes, there is a lot to be pieced together in these next 8 months.

And totally shifting over to CFB in general and KUFB in particular -
From CBSSports.com: Ranking the top 25 Power Four college football coaches entering the 2024 season
Leipold is #12.
In the Big 12 only Utah's Kyle Whittingham (6) ranks higher. Leipold ranks ahead of Big 12 coaches Chris Klieman (13), Mike Gundy (15) and Matt Campbell (25) in the top 25 rankings.
That is all for now.
May you have a GREAT day!
